In reaction to Luís Montenegro's Christmas message, André Ventura contested the prime minister's statement that Portugal is “one of the safest countries in the world”.
“No one or almost no one in Portugal can see this country, can think that they wake up in a safe country or go to bed in a safe country”, he stated.
For next year, the leader of Chega left a messagethat he said was sincere: “The hope that the Government will come with a new spirit to solve problems that persist or have worsened over the last year”.
“Next year - in which we do not know whether the Government will last or not, whether the Budget will be approved or not -, but we can demand a new and different spirit from what was seen in this Christmas message so that the Portuguese have the change for which they voted”, he appealed.
“I would like a Christmas message from a Prime Minister to be one of tranquillity, hope and assurance that he will be on the side of the security forces against criminals, that he will be on the side of the security forces against those who want to discredit and destroy the police”, he said.
Ventura also criticized Montenegro for highlighting that OE2025 did not increase any taxes, considering that the Government continues to penalize through tax means “those who work” to “finance the expenditure and the size of the State” and distribute to areas “many of them people who do nothing.”
“The logic of this Government was the same as the logic of the Socialist Party”, he accused.
