In a political statement in the Assembly of the Republic, deputy Marta Silva, from Chega, considered that the SNS is going through "a crisis" and "it is everyone's fault": "From previous governments for the destruction of management models that worked, generated savings, and due to the current Government's lack of strategic vision, due to its inability to act and correct past mistakes".

The deputy considered that the SNS is "the reflection of disorder, lack of planning and political negligence" and maintained that, "while patients face unbearable waiting times and health professionals work at their limit, successive governments, including the current one, demonstrate an unacceptable disorientation."

"I appeal to everyone in this house: stop turning health into a political game and work on real and urgent reform. The SNS cannot wait any longer, we cannot wait any longer," she said, asking the opposition parties to "be constructive forces".

The deputy and vice-president of Chega also urged the Government to "stop chasing losses and start planning for the future".

Stating that health is "a right that has been systematically violated", Marta Silva gave as an example the number of patients without a family doctor and emergency rooms that are closed or have long waiting times.
