On Sobieszewska Island, Poland, a group of detectorists have uncovered parts of an Enigma machine, believed to have been destroyed and buried by retreating German forces at the end of World War II.

The Enigma machine holds particular significance due to the efforts of a Polish group of mathematicians whose groundbreaking work was essential in breaking its code.
Among other discoveries made at the site were field telephones, radio broadcasting equipment, and laryngophones used in German tanks.
