As part of the project, which was completed in December, “lighting was also installed on the surrounding pedestrian path, which results in improved safety conditions, both in the Skate Park and on the public path”.

The work “contributes to improving the energy efficiency of the equipment, through a 50% reduction in terms of energy consumption. At the same time, it helps to reduce the annual maintenance costs of the Skate Park by around 5000 euros, taking into account that the improvement in safety conditions helps to reduce the degradation of materials”.

The Albufeira Skate Park was built in 2007, has free entry and “was considered to be one of the largest and best extreme parks in the Iberian Peninsula”.

José Carlos Rolo, Mayor of Albufeira, believes that “improving the energy and technological efficiency of municipal buildings, particularly sports facilities, is one of the municipality’s priority concerns”.
