The Azorean executive justifies the adjustment in the maximum retail price with the "recent variations in the international market of reference prices for oil and energy products".
Since December, fuel prices have been rising in the Azores.
The price of butane gas, which had not increased since July 2021, rose in January and began to be adjusted monthly with a new calculation formula.
After rising by 6.6 cents per litre since December, the price of petrol stabilised in April, being set at €1.580 per litre.
Diesel, which increased by 10.2 cents per litre since December, fell by 1.7 cents per liter in April, now costing €1.489 per litre.
The maximum prices of petroleum and energy products in the Azores are "changed on the 1st of each month and in amounts equivalent to the variation in the monthly European Price (PE) value".
In December, the Azorean executive increased the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP) by 9.8 cents per litre on petrol and 5.8 cents per litre on diesel.
Now, 59 cents of ISP are charged per litre for gasoline and 40 cents for diesel.
