This is a chance to sample tasty bites from across the region while also docovering new restaurants and eateries.
“Rota do Petisco” translating to the “Snack Route” is a cultural and recreational project based in Portimão and is organised by the Teia D’Impulsos non-profit association.
The “Snack Route” brings together a gastronomic route for the public to follow, which includes several restaurants, organised by different geographical areas. It has grown greatly, since the first edition which only included 31 establishments, to this year having turned into the largest coverage ever of 292 restaurants participating in this gastronomic event, spread over 11 municipalities, from Aljezur to Tavira. They are not only worth a visit for gastronomic reasons but because the collection of stamps in your own passport has many advantages and prizes to be won!
From Aljezur to Tavira, the 292 restaurants who have decided to be a part of this great gastronomic adventure will be serving the best snacks from their region, made from local produce. This event promises diversity, flavors from the sea to the Algarve mountains, signature dishes from the Chef’s Route and foreign cuisine from the World Route. They have also found a way to involve children and young people in the “Snack Route” with the Pequenes Moces Route and there is a Vegetarian option too. Each of the snack menus includes a dish and drink for only €3 and for the sweet tooths amongst us, you can enjoy a dessert and drink for €2. To do so, you will simply need to present the Rota do Petisco Passport that you can purchase for €1.50 in one of the participating establishments or from one of the official points of sale which you can see at www.rotadopetisco.com.
This year you can discover the unmissable “Snack Route” by taxi, train or even by boat to Tavira Island, with discounts on transport. Inside your Passport you will find a number of highlights in each municipality, such as free museum admissions. By adding 12 stamps, you can also win prizes, for everything from hotel stays, to boat and hot air balloon experiences to even massages and tattoos. In addition, along the route, there will be plenty of other activities and lots of street entertainment with partnered events.
Rota do Petisco celebrates 10 years of many snacks and promises to continue to celebrate many more to come. The objective of the Teia D’Impulsos association is to give a taste of the Algarve and show the value of the delicacies of the region while in turn boosting various municipalities, as well as, contributing in some way to the resumption of restoration activity, following the pandemic.
