“Today we have 70,000 people in Lisbon who do not pay for public transport, 70,000 people is more than 10% of our population [545,796 inhabitants, according to the final results of the 2021 Census]”, declared Carlos Moedas.
The mayor of Lisbon was speaking at a ceremony celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Metropolitano de Lisboa, which was attended by the Prime Minister, António Costa (PS), and which took place at Terreiro do Paço, where the exhibition “The Metro” was inaugurated.
A public tender was also launched for the extension of the Red line between São Sebastião and Alcântara.
