Today, 851 people are hospitalised, 46 more than on Sunday, and 181 are in intensive care units, where five more people were hospitalised in the last 24 hours.
Most new infections by SARS-CoV-2 (755) are registered today in the North region, while in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo there are over 624 infected people.
The eight deaths in the last 24 hours were registered in the regions of Lisbon (five), Algarve (two) and North (one).
According to the health authority, Portugal now has 52,236 active cases (an increase of 465), having recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours over 1,382 people, which increases to 863,089 the number of recovered since the beginning of the pandemic.
The number of contacts under surveillance is 79,883, plus 173 in the last 24 hours.
The region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo now has 364,615 cases of infection and the North region, 362,040, reports the DGS.
In the Centre there were 127 new cases (126,560 in total), in the Alentejo there are a further 61 cases (32,464 in total), in the Algarve 231 new infections (total 29,768), in Madeira 25 new cases (10,247) and in the Azores 32 more , for a total of 6,846.
Lisbon and Vale do Tejo is the region with the most deaths (7,341), followed by the North (5,382), the Center (3,035), the Alentejo (976), the Algarve (377), Madeira (70) and the Azores (34).
