These 25 counties are at extreme risk due to the high number of cases of infection. Among the municipalities most battered by the number of infections by the new coronavirus is Mourão, with 3,388 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Mora with 2,683/100,000 inhabitants, Vidigueira with 1,942/100,000 inhabitants and Nisa with 1,815.
In the bulletin of the 28 December (the last with these data revealed weekly), Mourão already stood out for a high incidence rate of cases, having now recorded an increase from 2,286 cases accumulated to 3,388. In the explanatory note of the data by municipalities it is stated that the cumulative incidence "corresponds to the quotient between the number of new confirmed cases in the 14 days prior to the moment of analysis and the estimated resident population".
With zero cases of infection are nine municipalities: Alcoutim, Lajes das Flores, Lages do Pico, Santa Cruz das Flores, Barrancos, Arronches, Nordeste, S. Roque do Pico and Corvo.
Twenty-nine municipalities recorded less than 119 occurrences per 100,000 inhabitants.
In the bulletin of the 28 of December were 41 municipalities with these values. Portugal now reports 78 more deaths related to covid-19 and 4,369 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, according to the Directorate-General for Health (DGS). The DGS epidemiological bulletin also indicates that 3,171 people are hospitalized, 127 more than on Sunday, of which 510 are in intensive care, that is, ten more. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has recorded 7,186 deaths and 431,623 cases of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, with 80,008, 2,407 more than on Sunday.
