According to the data revealed at the Infarmed (Lisbon) meeting on the epidemiological situation in the country by André Peralta Santos from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), in the last two weeks there has been a stable trend of cumulative incidence at 14 days, which the specialist considered "a good sign".
The expert stressed that there is a heterogeneity in the incidence to 14 days in the national territory, but still with some municipalities with an incidence of more than 120 cases / 100 thousand inhabitants, and that there is a decreasing trend in large urban centres, "which stabilises the national incidence", he said.
André Peralta Santos also said that in the last week, due to population density and the number of inhabitants there was a growth in the northern municipalities such as Paredes, Paços de Ferreira and Penafiel, which, according to the expert, "causes some concern". He also pointed out as "good news" the reversal of the trend of the incidence of infection in Odemira (Alentejo). Although it remains high, he stressed, "it has already started a reversal and is in a downward trend."
