Portugal joined European Union countries condemning Poland and Hungary for holding up the bloc’s coronavirus crisis recovery package in a dispute over linking disbursal of the funds with rule of law provisions. Hungary and Poland have for weeks blocked the release of funds worth a total 1.85 trillion euros from the EU’s seven-year budget and a post-COVID development fund. They object to the bloc’s attempt to make the funds conditional on respect for the rule of law and democratic norms.
Poland and Hungary are conservative and sane. The rest of the EU is a joke.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE HEADS OF EUROPEAN UNION, EVEVERY RULE, NORM OR CONDITION MUST BE APPLIED EQUALLY AMONG THE MEMBER STATES.. I SINCERELY SUPPORT HUNGARY AND POLAND FOR THEIR STAND. THIS IS A KIND OF SEGREGATION OF POOR COUNTRIES OF THE BLOC BY THE RICH ONES.

I hope that at least Hungary stands its ground. This could easily be resolved on the EU side by making the funds unconditional on idiology. Btw, the pressure is only applied to small countries and never to Italy, France or Germany itself. What a surprise. Portugal should stand with Hungary, actually.
