According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the district of Braga has an orange warning until 20:00 today because of the persistence of high minimum temperatures.
IPMA also placed the districts of Viana do Castelo, Porto, Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Évora and Beja under a yellow warning because of the hot weather until 20:00 today.
The forecast of scattered thunderstorm, with the occurrence of showers and gusts of wind led the Institute to issue a yellow warning for the districts of Beja, Évora, Portalegre, Castelo Branco and Guarda, which will be in force between 15:00 and 21:00 today.
The orange warning is issued by IPMA when there is a moderate to high risk weather situation and the yellow warning whenever there is a risk for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
During the afternoon, a temporary increase in cloudiness is expected in the interior, with the occurrence of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Centre and Southern interior.
The minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 15 degrees Celsius (in Bragança) and 22 (in Castelo Branco) and the maximum between 27 (in Aveiro) and 36 (in Castelo Branco and Braga).
