“In order to speed up the vaccination process, the country's Vaccination Centres were open over the weekend, with a greater turnout being recorded on Saturday. Over the two days, at least 68,700 flu vaccines and 44,700 booster doses of the covid-19 vaccine were administered to users aged 65 years and over", said the Directorate-General (DGS) in a statement.
Also according to the DGS, “Portugal has already administered more than half a million booster and additional doses of the vaccine against covid-19 and more than one million vaccines against the flu”.
Since October 18, the co-administration of flu vaccines and the third dose of the vaccine against covid-19 has been underway, which includes citizens aged 65 years or over and in a situation of immunosuppression.
The “open house” programme for people aged 80 and over, which worked this weekend to speed up the vaccination process against covid-19 and the flu, “is maintained throughout the week”.
The DGS advises users, before going to the vaccination centre in their area of residence, to consult the respective opening hours at https://covid19.min-saude.pt/casa_aberta/ .
The DGS also highlights that self-scheduling of vaccines is also available for people aged 70 and over, and that this can be done at https://covid19.min-saude.pt/pedido-de-agendamento/ .
Hard to believe this number if you know that for 2 weeks the Astra Zeneca vaccin is NOT available in Caldas da Rainha. This is an unacceptable situation that prevents us from traveling unless we spend another 100 euro for a PCR test. This result in at least 400 euro for the both of us. DGS is a dramatic logistical failure supplier of poor service.
