"We had two centres without decent conditions that have to be deactivated", said Carlos Moedas (PSD), who guaranteed that the people who were in these spaces are being "accompanied and moved to other places".
Carlos Moedas said that the homeless problem is "very serious" and that "Lisbon must change it’s strategy" of a response based on reception centres where more than 100 people gather in the same space.
For the new mayor of Lisbon, the city should adopt in the future a "more Nordic model" and have "smaller" solutions, in terms of spaces for people living on the streets.
Portugal should adopt more Nordic solutions/ways of life if it ever wants to become a real European country - and that includes ending its endemic corruption, short term vision and far reaching mismanagement.

K: Portugal is a far more European country than any Nordic country could ever hope to be, both in its history, culture and traditions. Portugal has always been a southern European country with a proud history and tradition, and we don't want stale Nordic or Anglo smugness and arrogance in this country, what we need is to get rid of the bad things in our nation without losing our identity.
