“This distinction honours us. We will continue to relentlessly position safety as a top priority”, said TAP CEO Christine Ourmières-Widener.
The Airline Ratings website is dedicated to evaluating airlines around the world, taking into account criteria such as accidents over the past five years, serious incidents over the past two years, audits by government agencies and the aviation industry, government audits, initiatives of safety, fleet age and safety protocols regarding Covid-19. The list has been published since 2014 and TAP debuted on the list in 2020.
According to Airline Ratings editor-in-chief Geoffrey Thomas: “TAP Air Portugal has an excellent safety record and this is not surprising as it has kept its fleet young and has always looked for the best aircraft and was one of the first to adopt large advances in security. Its record of incidents over the past two years has been one of the best and the airline has not suffered a fatality in the modern era. TAP Portugal has become a reference in air safety and its Covid-19 protocols are industry leaders”, he concludes.
The ONLY reason why TAP Air Portugal makes it to the top of this list - would be solely down to the fact that they fly less that other airlines. This a shameful airline - a total fiasco.

It is labeled “safest” because of its almost immaculate record of flying accidents ( See? I read to understand why). However, the total lack of accountability in the 2 deaths of pet passengers and the episode of carrying explosives along with Guaidó on a flight to Caracas tarnish and challenge that “safest”label.

It's also the most unprofessionell airline on this planet. TAP cancelled hundreds of flights during the lockdown without any warnung or notification, deleted user profiles and histories and is in lots of trouble it seems. Well, one out of 6 lawsuits just went through yesterday, they'll pay for their arrogance and lazyness. Book of complaints is useless but a European court lawsuit works wonders.

I would never ever use them again they ripped us off over flight booked to the Uk which had to be cancelled due to Covid as our grandaughters wedding was cancelled.they said we were not entitalled to a refund. we had booked flight cancelation insurance and health etc my husband had a heart problem, they still
said we were not entitled to a refund. So co tacted his consultant at HUC Covoes Coimbra he then sent us a medical certificate saying that with the Covid situation and .my husbands health condition he was advising him not to travel as it was unsafe.particularly with the Covid and he told us to quarantine and stay safe.so we lost over 600 Euros.and if it was a life or death situation I would not ever travel with them.I only ever Travel with TRANSAVIA. Now Who have been brilliant and helpful in every respect. Margaret Stephenson.

The situation on Lisboa AirPort in the 3. Off January was a shame for TAP no mather how “safe” they are in the statistics. Hundreds of travelers didn’t get any help at all on the ground service when TAP canceled due to fog. Nothing! Absolutely nothing. Families with small children and old people. No service from the responsibly part, TAP! People were sitting 10-20 hours on the airport and got non help! People were crying and lost everything. Never more TAP from my side…never based on what I experienced that day and night!

What load of rubbish; they are the worst, cancel flights, late departures and generally bad customer service.

Certain people like to complain about there apparently being too many flight cancellations associated with TAP Airlines, but I think that any reasonable person would prefer a delayed flight now and again than be at risk of any safety issue with their flight!
