According to the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS): “In Portugal, around 13,750,000 certificates have already been issued, of which around 450,000 are certificates of recovery [from infection], 1,200,000 are test certificates with a negative result and approximately 12,100,000 correspond to vaccination certificates”.
The same source also said that about 600,000 digital certificates were also made available, including the booster dose of immunization against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
According to the Ministry of Health, information on the booster dose is only available on the certificate 14 days after its administration, which is why only after this period should the updated document be requested through the SNS 24 mobile application or the SNS 24 portal.
These certificates began to be issued in Portugal on June 16, 2021 and entered into force throughout the European Union on July 1, with the aim of facilitating the free movement of citizens in Member States in a safe way during the pandemic.
The document is mandatory to enter restaurants, tourist establishments and local accommodation, cultural shows, events and gyms in Portugal.
