“It is the responsibility of each person to adopt behaviours that minimise the risk of transmission of the virus”, states the new guidance from the DGS and which adapts public health measures to the current epidemiological situation in the country.
Vaccines and cleaning
According to the document, these individual behaviours include being vaccinated against Covid-19, keeping spaces ventilated, wearing a mask whenever the risk of transmission of the disease is increased, staying at home and testing, if you have symptoms, washing and disinfecting your hands frequently and ensuring that surfaces are regularly cleaned and disinfected.
“In a scenario of alignment with the current epidemiological scenario, it is important that the transition of public health measures, prepared and published within the scope of the pandemic, be carried out in an adequate way to minimise the risk of the disease for the population”, adds the guidance, to the advance that companies and institutions must have an updated contingency plan for each location, in order to minimise the transmissibility of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
Digital certificates
The guidelines have now scrapped the obligation to present a digital certificate for access to spaces such as food and beverage establishments, cinemas, hotels and similar establishments, bars and nightclubs, however it remains mandatory in situations foreseen for international mobility, as well as for access to nursing homes and visits to health care facilities.
Mask use
As for the mask, it remains mandatory in the various interior spaces, with the exception of customers of bars and clubs.
Remote working
“The remote working regime, which allows the maintenance of work, avoiding the agglomeration of people, can be adopted whenever the functions in question allow, the worker has the conditions to perform them and in agreement with the employer” adds the new guidelines.
The guidance now published revokes 2020 and 2021 guidelines on sports venues, bars and clubs, use of amusement equipment, large-scale events, sports competitions, physical activity, places of worship, spaces for cultural activities, public transport, day care centres, restaurants, customer service and hotels.
The joint technical guidelines on the reference for schools to control the transmission of Covid-19, the program of laboratory screenings in day care centres and educational and teaching establishments and the screening campaign with laboratory tests for SARS-CoV-2 were also revoked.
Just in time for the tourist season what a coincidence .I know the bars and restaurantes need the money or some will close for good, but Covid will go up imported into portugal by the tourists that come here and dont follow the rules. Then at the end of the season we will be in lockdown again i bet.

‘Alan’ seems to think that the Portuguese people don’t travel abroad for holidays and business, then return.

This story says nothing about testing be eliminated from air travel. Where are you getting your information?

I just came from a business trip to England.
The moment I stepped onto the airplane in Faro airport, I was told masks optional and I removed my mask! So liberating!
Yes flying with no freaking masks on!
In England people are FREEEEEE, no masks since July, and never had "vaccine certificates" proving ID and separating people into classes!
They also mostly stopped counting the so called "cases".
Are we living in the wrong country? Is it because of "socialism" that we have restrictions?
Of course there are even better countries, Sweden, that didn't even have lockdowns, just precautions. Their economy suffered much less, and their ***with*** Covid deaths and hospitalizations haven't been any more than England or Portugal. Why all these restrictions then?

Great! So the school-going-under-18s still have to wear masks, although they share the class room with virtually the same people daily.
But no chin-nappies needd at a soccer game in packed stadium, restaurant, or in a sweaty dance club (often in combination with drugs and alcohol).
Madness innit, if you think about it longer than a million second.

@Alan: I indeed think we haven't seen the tail-end yet. Mandates may come into place.

Am I understanding this correctly? Are we still persisting with the ridiculous mask rule? It's ridiculous. Can we just catch up with the truth.. Masks do nothing but give us headaches, lack of clean Oxygen, frustration and the constant recycling of toxic air. Please see some sense. The rudiculous mask must go.

When will tourist visas for South Africans be opened?

As of the 18th March, the UK do not require a pre-departure covid test or day 2 test to enter UK for vaxed and unvaxed. Sense at last.
