AHRESP was reacting to the approval on Tuesday by the Lisbon Municipal Assembly of the proposal for the “immediate suspension” of new registrations of local accommodation in the capital until the amendment to the municipal regulation enters into force.
The suspension of registrations applies to the parishes of Ajuda, Alcântara, Areeiro, Arroios, Avenidas Novas, Belém, Campo de Ourique, Estrela, Misericórdia, Parque das Nações, Penha de França, Santa Maria Maior, Santo António and São Vincent.
In the note, AHRESP stresses that this decision will have “a negative impact, namely in terms of the dynamics of tourism and the gains they generate, directly and indirectly, as well as in terms of the dynamics of regeneration of the city's properties which, as we know, owe a lot to this activity”.
