“There was a growing trend in hospital occupancy by cases of Covid-19, with 1,842 cases hospitalised on May 23 (+27% compared to the previous week)”, advances the document from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) and from the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA).
According to the document, all age groups showed a “growing trend” in ward admissions in the last week, and it is expected that, given the rise in the incidence of new infections, there will still be an increase in demand for health care and mortality, particularly in the most vulnerable groups.
