Fábio Vieira is on his way to the English Premier League. FC Porto will sell the midfielder to Arsenal for €35 million, with another five million in add-ons, should additional conditions be met. The agreement was announced by the club on Friday.
"Futebol Clube do Porto - Futebol, SAD, [...] hereby informs the market that it has reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal FC for the definitive transfer of the sporting registration rights of professional football player Fábio Vieira for the sum of forty million euros, of which five million euros are dependent on the achievement of objectives on the pitch," says the statement, released to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Last season, the midfielder played 39 games for the Dragons and contributed with seven goals and 16 assists. A product of FC Porto's youth system, Fábio Vieira also played eight games for the Portuguese under-21 national team, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.
Fábio Vieira's transfer from FC Porto to Arsenal is expected to be finalised in the coming days.
