Graça Freitas said that she has signed the document that allows the European mechanism to donate vaccines to Portugal.
“We will receive these vaccines by the end of the month. We already have a position from the Technical Commission on Vaccination on who are the candidates to be vaccinated ”, she said, adding that issues such as informed consent are being worked on.
According to Graça Freitas, at the end of the month a guide will be ready with indications for the vaccination of contacts, which is being worked on with clinicians, the Technical Commission on Vaccination and partners from other institutions.
“It is a vaccination aimed only at contacts of patients”, she said, noting that the amount of vaccines allocated to Portugal by the European Union “is sufficient” for the country’s needs, and there are still other mechanisms that Portugal can use, “if required".
