According to Jornal de Notícias, the applications already exceed the limit of incentives to be granted by the government, with 1,348 requests for reimbursement being filed since March.

Of the 1,348 applications for support of €4,000 per beneficiary in the purchase of electric vehicles, made available by the Environmental Fund, 255 are approved, 1,053 are under analysis and five have been excluded. This means that if all the candidates under analysis are approved, 43 may not receive any support.

When questioned about a possible increase in funds, the Ministry of the Environment told Jornal de Notícias that “the evaluation of applications for support of 10 million euros for the acquisition of electric and smooth mobility vehicles is still ongoing, so the procedure regarding incentives has not yet been closed”. Applications for the purchase of scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, skates, monowheels, tricycles and light quadricycles have also exceeded the 1,050 allowed.
