In a statement, the National Republican Guard indicates that it has intensified “patrolling, inspection and support actions for road users with the aim of guaranteeing their safety” during travels made in the summer.

The GNR justifies this operation, with the “substantial increase in traffic” during this time of year “as a result of the influx of foreign tourists, emigrants and the travel of national citizens to summer resorts”.

During the operation, the GNR will carry out “preventive actions on the main road axes, namely motorways, main routes, complementary routes and national roads” on the most critical roads and those with the highest volume of traffic, with the objective of “combating road accidents, guaranteeing the fluidity of traffic and supporting all road users”.
