“For many of us, this may be the first time we have travelled
abroad since the pandemic, and as such, there may be certain elements of our
travel routines that we may have forgotten, including our cybersecurity hygiene
habits, which is music to the ears of opportunistic hackers looking to take
advantage of relaxed attitudes and unprotected devices", says Rui Duro,
Country Manager at Check Point Software Technologies in Portugal.

Businesses are most vulnerable in the summer and during long
weekends and holidays throughout the year. Sometimes computer attacks can go
unnoticed. An example of this was the ransomware attack on the Kaseya network
on July 4, 2021 by the Russian-speaking criminal group REvil which affected
over 1,000 organizations worldwide.
Check Point highlighted some computer security tips for the
summer: be careful with public Wi-Fi networks, do not share your credentials,
disable automatic connection to Wi-Fi networks/ Bluetooth, use multi-factor
authentication, install security patches and watch out for ATMs.
