Sociedade Ponto Verde data indicates that packaging
recycling continues to grow and that the Portuguese are recycling more glass.
“In the first half of 2022, 214,511 tons of packaging were
sent for recycling from the selective collection of green, blue and yellow
ecopoints, which serve the Portuguese”, says the statement.
The figures from Sociedade Ponto Verde, on the performance
of the Integrated Packaging Waste Management System (SIGRE), specify that
100,119 tons of glass (+9%), 832 tons of aluminum (+16%) and 38,769 tons of
plastic (+4%) have been recycled during that period.
The statement highlights that the trend of glass recycling
has been increasing in the last two years. And it is said that the commitment
signed by the sector's agents to overcome the glass recycling goals for 2025
contributes to this.
The glass recycling rate in Portugal is calculated at 56%
and the goal is to reach 75% by 2025.
This is a no brainer. Years ago in aus you used to get money back on recycling glass bottles, it still happens in south australia. Here I recycle my ice cream tubs to store food. Plastic bottles are great to create a hot water system:-) 100 bottles on the roof instant hot water for the evening shower :-) even if i do go shopping plastic bags in the veg department can be used to store frozen produce. tin cans jars all can be repurposed... the list goes on
