The Portuguese capital was the city that registered the
greatest demand from foreigners to buy a house. Leading the polls are the North
Americans, followed by Brazilians, English, Germans and French.
Loulé for the Brits
Loulé was the second municipality that attracted the most
interest from foreigners to buy a house, with the English being the ones who
were making the most searches, followed by the French, Germans, North Americans
and the Dutch.
By house price range, 56% of French and Dutch people were
looking for properties for less than €300,000, followed by Germans (47%),
British (43%) and North Americans (14%). Regarding houses in the price range of
300,000 and 600,000 euros, the North Americans (47%) are most interested,
followed by the French (27%), English (26%), Germans (20%) and Dutch (10%).
The North Americans (21%) were the ones who most searched
for properties between 600,000 and 1 million euros, followed by the Dutch
(20%), Germans (16%), British (14%) and French (10%). In the luxury home
market, valued at over 1 million euros, the most interested in purchasing a
home in Loulé were the North Americans and the Germans (18% for both
nationalities), followed by the English (17%), Dutch (15%) and French (7%).
French lead Albufeira

The Algarve is once again represented in this ranking, with
Albufeira in the third position of the municipalities with the most foreign
interest in homes for sale.
The Dutch (76%) mainly looked for homes that cost less than
€300,000, followed by the French (69%), Swiss (64%), English (61%) and Germans
(58%). Regarding houses that cost between 300,000 and 600,000 euros, the Swiss
(24%) are most interested, followed by the Germans (23%), the English (21%) and
the French (20%).
The Dutch (16%) are the ones who are most looking for houses
with prices ranging between 600,000 and 1 million euros, followed by the
English (11%), Germans (10%), French (7%) and Swiss (7%). In the luxury
residential market, which has homes for sale valued at more than 1 million
euros, the Dutch are the most interested (9%), followed by the Germans (8%),
the English (7%), the Swiss and the French (5% for both nationalities).
Gees why bother stinking hot inflation.... Portugal is not a cheap destination now.

When you say English in this report I assume you mean British ? Otherwise I would expect % for Scottish , Welsh and Irish people!

@ Graham Burgess, exactly correct, the author's confusion and misunderstanding as to the difference between English and British totally undermines its findings. Probably written by a Lisbon city person who fails to understand what's going on in Portugal's hinterlands, and obsessed by the big cities and the Algarve, thinking foreigners only buy in these two zones!
