According to INSA's weekly report on the evolution of Covid-19,
the average number of daily cases of infection with Covid-19 within five days
fell again from 5,479 to 4,488 at the national level, being slightly lower on
the mainland (4,153).
This average of 4,488 daily contagions by SARS-CoV-2 is the
lowest recorded this year, which started with high values and dropped until May,
when infections rose again in the country, resulting in the sixth wave in the
country.
According to INSA reports, during this year, the highest
average of five-day daily cases was recorded at the end of January (49,795
infections), when the incidence rate was 6,130.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants
and the transmissibility index (Rt) of about 1.16.
According to today's INSA report, despite the reduction in
the number of cases of covid-19, the Rt - which estimates the number of
secondary cases of infection resulting from each person carrying the virus -
rose in Portugal from 0.81 to 0, 86.
All regions, with the exception of the Algarve (1,185.2),
now have an incidence rate of less than 960 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14
days, the document also states.
