According to the DGS weekly epidemiological report, there were 7,536 fewer infections and nine fewer deaths compared to the previous week.
The bulletin indicates that, last Monday, 679 people were hospitalised, 154 less than on the same day of the previous week, with 48 patients in intensive care units, minus six.
The DGS began to release data on hospitalisations for the Monday before the report was published on Fridays, limiting them to the mainland.
According to the DGS bulletin, the seven-day incidence was, on Monday, at 207 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, having registered a decrease of 26% compared to the previous week, with the transmissibility index (Rt) of coronavirus down to 0.83 (from 0.86).
By region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded 7,988 cases between July 26 and August 1, 3,848 less than in the previous period, and 20 deaths, down five.
The North region accounted for 4,989 cases (minus 1,632) and 14 deaths (minus three) and the Center totalled 3,612 infections (minus 799) and 11 deaths.
In the Algarve, 1,367 positive cases were recorded (724 less) and 10 deaths (the same number as last week) and in the Alentejo there were 1,248 infections by SARS-CoV-2 (281 less) and six deaths (two more).
As for the autonomous regions, the Azores had 1,226 new infections between the 26th of July and the 1st of August (115 less) and one death (the same number as the previous week), while Madeira recorded 872 cases (137 less) and four deaths (three less), according to DGS data.
