This situation led to the hoisting of the red flag and the
posting of warnings at the accesses to this beach in the district of Porto,
said Silva Rocha.
This information is also on the official website of the
Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).
Also on Tuesday, the beach of Castelo do Queijo, in Porto, had
bathing banned for the same reason, according to the National Maritime
Authority (AMN).
“Castle do Queijo beach, in the municipality of Porto, was
today closed to bathing after water quality analysis carried out by the
Portuguese Environment Agency revealed microbiological values above the
reference parameters, and the water was unsuitable for bathing”.
Last week, also in the district of Porto, and due to microbiological
values above the reference parameters, five beaches in Vila Nova de Gaia and
one in Póvoa de Varzim had swimming banned.
Further south, in the district of Aveiro, five beaches were
closed in Espinho.
