In summary:
52% of
Nobel Algarve’s iGCSE students achieved A* A (7-9) – up from 41% last year and
70% achieved A* - B (6-9) and 91% achieved A* - C (9-4).
These
results are hot on the heels of Nobel Algarve’s record-setting A-Level results
and further proof that the school is fulfilling its Mission Statement of
challenging students to meet their potential and be the best they can be.
Head of
School Abi Lewis said: "We are so proud of our students, who continue to
amaze us all with their successes both in the classroom and in the wider
community. These impressive results are certainly a testament to the resilience
of our students who have laid down the foundation for a successful future with
these results.”
She
continued: “I also have to thank our wonderful teachers, who continue to raise
the bar here at Nobel Algarve and who provide an outstanding education for the
young people in our care. We believe that every student will achieve, and our
Year 11 cohort has certainly proved us right!"
Nobel
Algarve's record results are even more evident when compared with the last time
students all sat formal examinations, 2019.
In 2019,
the number of A* (8-9) grades was 7%, but now this is transformed to 29%, a
rise of 22%.
This
remarkable improvement is also clear in other standard measures; the percentage
of A *- A (9-7), for example, improved by 18%, and A* - C (9 - 4) by 12% to
91%.
There is
also much discussion in the press about lost learning, about students who have
fallen behind after years of interrupted education and online learning, and
these statistical improvements show that at Nobel Algarve at least, students
are catching up; not just making up for lost learning, but also making
incredible progress.
Many Nobel
Algarve students have gone on to achieve a clutch of A* and A grades, including
Year 11 Alice, who gained a grade 9, 8, 5, A*, A*, A, A, C; Danila who gained
8, 8, 7, A*, A, A, A, A, B or Rafael with 9, 9, 7, A*, A*, A*, A.
Proud
parent Dora Fernandes, Alice’s mother, said: “My daughter has achieved
excellent iGCSE results in the 2022 examinations. I would like to thank her
teachers for believing in her and her hard work and for ensuring a smooth
transition from her UK school to Nobel Algarve. Thank you for all the support
provided throughout the year to ensure Alice is successful”.
Head of
Secondary International, David Green, added: “I would like to congratulate all
Year 11 students on their excellent GCSE examination results.
“Throughout
the last two years, they have shown determination and dedication toward their
studies, often under very difficult circumstances. Their hard work has paid off
and I wish them all the best in their future endeavours”. www.nobelalgarve.com
