According to the official, organising the event in Portugal would bring sporting, social and economic benefits, as well as linking Portugal to its communities and projecting the Portugal brand worldwide.
The Secretary of State spoke at the Football Talks forum, which takes place between 5 and 6 September, in Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras. The program is based on topics related to the five strategic pillars identified in the FPF's 2030 Football Plan: Childhood and Growth, Football for All, Game Quality, Involvement and Ecosystem Sustainability.
At the same forum, Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, said that he is "certain" that the Iberian bid will be chosen to host the 2030 World Cup.
Spain
hosted the '82 World Cup, while Portugal has never hosted the event, despite hosting
Euro 2004 and the final round of the Nations League in 2019.
Unbelievable to think Portugal have never hosted / part hosted a WC prior to this bid. After the current sham of WC's in Qatar (with the associated issues) and European Finals in the like of Azerbaijan it would be great to have this great tournament delivered by two true footballing nations. The stadium infrastructure and transport network is already in place too.
