“The 50 percent discounts that are being applied to the toll
rate on ex-Scut motorways have already allowed drivers to save €44.4 million,
for the first half of 2022,” the executive said in a statement.
According to the same note, which cites data from
Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), discounts could exceed €80 million, by the
end of 2022.
The savings apply to the A22- Algarve, A23-IP, A23-Beira
Interior, A24-Interior Norte, A25- Beiras Litoral and Alta, A28 – Norte
Litoral, A41 – Grande Porto Concessions and A42 – Costa da Prata, A13
Sub-concession of Pinhal Interior and the A4 – Autoestrada Transmontana and
Túnel do Marão sub-concession.
The proposal for discounts of 50 percent on the toll fee for
all vehicles and 75 percent for electric and non-polluting vehicles was
presented by the PSD and approved by parliament under the OE2021 Law.
The approval of the measure caused some controversy, with
the Government pointing out its possible unconstitutionality, which was
discarded.
