With the theme “Flying for a World of Opportunities”, the
Portugal Air Summit, whose program was presented in Lisbon and is considered
the “largest aeronautical summit” in the Iberian Peninsula, will bring together
"international and national stakeholders in the aeronautical sector ,
space and defense, which currently has a turnover of €1.7 billion, of which 87
percent relate to exports to various international markets, and has more than
18,500 professionals in Portugal", according to the organisation.
This 6th edition, an initiative of the Ponte de Sor Chamber
and The Race company, with the support of institutions and companies, will give
“a special focus” to the “investment opportunities available” and features
novelties such as a fashion show and the landing of a SATA Airlines Airbus 320.
“We want to increasingly involve partners who come to
Portugal with an appetite and an interest so that Portuguese companies can get
involved in international projects. We have the business area so that companies
have a chance of internationalisation”, said The Race CEO, Nuno Molarinho.
This edition includes a program with 70 conference panels,
with around 200 speakers, 20 percent of whom are foreigners and around 30
percent are presidents or vice presidents of large international companies.
Air show
“We will have projects that will be presented and will be new.
On the 15th, on Saturday we have the most fun event of the programme, the 'air
show', but this year we have news. We will have a SATA Airlines Airbus 320 that
will land for the first time in Alto Alentejo and will be there for two days so
that it can be visited and to show the capacity of the airfield to receive this
type of aircraft”, said The Race CEO.
This edition will also receive, according to Nuno Molarinho,
an English plane, a Spitfire, as a highlight of the show.
The mayor of Ponte de Sor, Hugo Hilário, highlighted the
importance of the summit, its recognition at a national and international
level, its mission to attract investment and the difficulties of organisation
for a municipality such as Ponte de Sor.
“Attracting investment is the main mission. The summit has
long since crossed the borders of the municipality of Ponte de Sor and the
Alentejo region,” he said.
