According to a report by Correio da Manhã, in total, the
value of revenue accumulated in the first eight months of the year by these
gambling games means that the state received around 140 million euros, 8.4%
more than in the same period in 2021.
According to the Social Security Financial Management
Institute, scratch cards made the biggest contribution, with 73 million euros,
while mutual bets — which include games such as Euromillions, Totoloto or
Milhão — totalled revenue of around 38 million euros. By the end of the year,
Social Security expects to raise close to 220 million euros through these
lotteries, according to the amount entered in the State Budget for 2022.
