In a statement, the entity indicates that, in the first quarter of this year, the Alentejo wine region maintained the growth trajectory already registered in the last year, with the export balance earning an increase of 4.7% in volume, reaching 5, 7 million litres sold.
In that period, the region had an increase of 2.8% in value, reaching 19.7 million euros.
From January to March, growth registered in the USA (+50% in value and +65% in liters), Angola (+74% in value and +170% in liters), in the Netherlands (+79% in value and +94% in litres), Sweden (+128% in value and +151% in litres) and Latvia (+137% in value and +141% in litres).
“Despite having increased, the lower growth recorded in value followed the trend of the national wine market and led to a decrease in the average price per litre, which fell by 1.8%, positioning itself at 3.46 euros per litre, with the DOC to decrease by 8.6%, to 4.93 euros per litre, and Regional to increase by 3.7%, to 3.08 euros per litre”.
In the note, the commission recalls that, in 2022, Alentejo reached a record value in exports and approached 80 million euros in international sales.
Last year, sales increased 13% in value, reaching a total of 78.9 million euros, and 11% in volume, registering 22.0 million litres sold.
