According to analysis by the Hydrographic Institute, the month of June 2023 recorded average temperature values higher than all records between 2000 and 2022.
According to data provided by the institute to CNN Portugal, the buoys of Leixões, Sines and Faro registered average temperatures well above the historical averages, collected by the Hydrographic Institute between 2000 and 2020, but also above the averages obtained in 2021 and 2022.
According to the Hydrographic Institute, the sea in Leixões is 2.3 degrees warmer this year than the average between 2000 and 2020, which was recorded at 16.6. A value that is also above the 15 degrees recorded in 2021 and the 17 degrees recorded last year.
In Sines, the average for the month of June this year is 18.6 degrees, 1.1 degrees more than that recorded between 2000 and 2020. This value is also above the 16.6 and 18.1 degrees recorded in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Moreover, and also according to the Hydrographic Institute, only in 2017 was the average water temperature in June higher than in 2023.
The same is true for Faro, where the water is naturally warmer. June 2023 recorded average levels of 20.6 degrees, one degree above the historical averages for the analysed period. As in Sines, in June 2017 the average was also higher than in 2023. The same happened in 2022, but by a smaller margin. Last year the June average was 19.7 degrees, while in 2021 the buoy was under maintenance.
Well well the climate hysteria... Dont even comment on the fact that in June there was big storm approaching Portugal(named Oscar). What do stroms from the southern quadrant always bring? Yes of course warm currents, and here you have the cause for that.
