The source from the Central Alentejo Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command told Lusa agency that the wasp attack, for which the alert was given at 11:24 pm, occurred in Jardim dos Colegiais, located in the historic centre.
Contacted by Lusa, the commander of the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Évora, Joaquim Piteira, said that the victims were students at the University of Évora (UÉ).
“They stepped on a common wasp nest, in a hole, and were stung,” he said, noting that the students were assisted at the scene by the doctor from the emergency and resuscitation medical vehicle (VMER) and that seven of them were transported to the city hospital.
