The National Republican Guard (GNR) will carry out a "control and inspection operation aimed at road passenger transport", between the 20th and 23rd of September.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the police say that the operation will take place across the entire country.

The inspection will focus on changing the characteristics and transformation of vehicles; daily and weekly driving times, daily and weekly breaks and rest periods; instantaneous speeds of the vehicle, recorded by the monitoring device during the last 24 hours, maximum, of vehicle use; and the operation of the tachograph.

The operation takes place within the scope of Euro Contrôle Route (ECR), "a group of European road transport oversight bodies that cooperate together to improve road safety, sustainability, fair competition and working conditions in road transport through of activities related to compliance with existing regulations".
