"As of today, there is a value of 1.8 million euros in debt, which has not been handed over to the municipality", according to Porto City Council.
According to the Chamber, municipal services have been carrying out various measures to regularise the registration of accommodation, and the submission and payment of billing statements submitted on the TMT platform by accommodation companies.
Given the amount still owed, "entities with debts will be granted a period of time until November 30, 2023, so that they can regularise the respective amounts in the treasury of the Municipality's Office".
Porto's tourist tax came into force in March 2018 and "since its implementation, more than 60 million euros have already been paid".
Typically Portugal. Nobody wants to pay taxes, taxation is theft, and the Portuguese understand this.
