In a statement, AMN explains that the alert was given at 2:09 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC).

The alert stated, "that there were five people on board a vessel that had run aground". Crew from the Ferragudo Life Saving Station were activated to the scene, as well as members of the Portimão Maritime Police Local Command.

"Upon arrival at the vessel, the crew at the Lifeguard Station discovered" that there were, in fact, five people on board, "and proceeded with the rescue to the Portimão marina, with the support of a maritime-tourist vessel that was in that area."

"The victims were physically well, without the need for medical assistance", informs the same note, which also adds that "the owner was notified to resume work on removing the vessel, as soon as safety conditions were met".
