“Between June 1st and September 30th, 2024, burning or making fires is prohibited in the 19 municipalities of the Intermunicipal Community (CIM) of the Coimbra Region, in order to prevent the occurrence of rural fires”.
The CIM asks the population, during this period to “adopt alternative methods for the disposal of forestry and agricultural waste, namely crushing the remainder or sending it to composting centres”.
According to the CIM of the Coimbra Region, this procedure has been adopted, since 2019, by the 19 municipalities, to “reduce the risks arising from the use of fire in this territory”.
The municipalities of Arganil, Cantanhede, Coimbra, Condeixa-a-Nova, Figueira da Foz, Góis, Lousã, Mealhada, Mira, Miranda do Corvo, Montemor-o-Velho, Mortágua, Oliveira do Hospital, Pampilhosa da Serra, Penacova, Penela, Soure, Tábua, Vila Nova de Poiares are part of the Coimbra Region CIM.
