A day spent at Zoomarine is synonymous with joy and fun, with the guarantee of constant learning about important themes related to environmental education and the preservation of our oceans.
The park is already a national benchmark, attracting thousands of visitors every year, bringing together zoological exhibitions, a water park and mechanical amusements in a single park covering more than 30 hectares.
The park's main goal is to bring awareness of the role that each of us can play in protecting the ocean and our planet, in a fun and emotional way.
In addition to the amazing presentations with dolphins, seals and sea lions, and birds, the Baia dos Piratas acrobatic show is a must-see. Throughout the day, the entrance ticket also includes access to various zoological habitats, including an aquarium with more than 20 different ecosystems, a butterfly garden and an immersive habitat with various species from the American continent and a refuge for exotic tortoise species. A panoramic ride on the Ferris wheel, the surprise of the Jurassic River or the adrenaline of the amusement rides complement the experience of visiting this world of dream and fantasy.
Zoomarine has been consistently adding new features to the park each and every year, and for 2024 season, is presenting a new musical show and a new water attraction.
Upbeat is a true musical show full of light, colour and positive energy, which reaches all your senses. A macaw, a butterfly and a chameleon discover that, despite their different personalities, changing your behaviour is possible and often positive. The show has been presented daily since March.
The other big novelty is opening soon, in early June. Iguaçu is an exciting slide with several dizzying descents of 5, 8 and 12 metres, culminating in a simulation of the iguaçu waterfalls, enveloping visitors in a refreshing mist.
Zoomarine is not only a reference in the world of theme parks, but also a true reference in nature conservation, science and education in Portugal, as since its foundation it has played an active role in the field of conservation and protection of ocean life, its species and habitats.
In addition to the natural founding strategy of involving the community through our environmental awareness programmes and approaches, there are other major international projects that provide specialist support in the protection of many endangered species - World Parrot Trust (Central America), Marine Megafauna Foundation (Mozambique), and Yaqu Pacha (South America) supported by fundraising through donations and merchandising.
As a modern zoo, care and respect for all animals is an integral part of the park's mission. Porto D'Abrigo - the 1st Rehabilitation Centre for Marine Species in Portugal (2002), is a prime example of this contribution, which, in collaboration with the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), has already rehabilitated and returned hundreds of aquatic and marine animals to the wild.
