The race is scheduled for the 29th and 30th of June and its main stage is the track at the Mogadouro Municipal Aerodrome, in the district of Bragança, where machines and drivers will measure their strength, in a race that is in its third edition.
“The town of Mogadouro is already on the national 'Drag Racing' map, being a bigger event and we believe it is the best in the country. This year there is no championship, but we will have a race with the best national drivers and vehicles, with the extra attraction of there being 'Prize Money' for the winners”, explained Pedro Costa, one of the promoters.
According to the person responsible, one of the new features is free entry, and another is “the absolute debut in Portugal of a ‘Drag Racing’ event for motorcycles with the endorsement of the Portuguese Motorcycling Federation (FMP)”.
“This is an experimental race, in which the first objective is to provide the opportunity for motorcycle lovers to compete safely and with insurance, which is a safeguard for the participants themselves and also for those who organise it”, indicated Pedro Costa.
The promoter also added that “the motorcycles are divided into two main categories, road legal motorcycles and modified or competition motorcycles”.
In addition to the motorcycles, another new feature is 'Roll Racing', races that in this edition will only be a demonstration, are a kind of variant of 'Drag Racing' where the main difference is that the cars pass the start at a predetermined speed (usually 50km/h).
“This year we cannot forget that the European Football Championship is taking place and with that in mind, we will have in the 'fun zone' the broadcast of some games on a giant screen, and an area with entertainment and inflatables for children, exhibitors, live music and DJ's”, he said.
According to Pedro Costa, the economic impact for the region is estimated to be more than 300,000 euros.
