Following authorisation from the Assembly of the Republic, the government, in the Council of Ministers approved "a partial exemption in the amount above 316 thousand euros and up to 633 thousand euros" for young people buying their first home.
This measure, which will come into force on 1 August, "will be accompanied by a compensation mechanism for municipalities, in order to make up for the loss of tax revenue", says the government.
This exemption is granted on the first acquisition of property intended exclusively for personal and permanent housing, with the condition being that young buyers do not own any residential property on the date of transfer or at any time in the three previous years and that they are not considered dependents for the purposes of IRS.
