Mainland Portugal and the Azores archipelago will be at very high risk of exposure to UV radiation until at least Thursday.
The Madeira archipelago will be at high levels today and on Wednesday Funchal will be at extreme risk and Porto Santo will be at very high risk.
On Thursday, Funchal remains at extreme levels and Porto Santo remains at high risk.
The ultraviolet radiation scale has five levels, between extreme and low risk.
For regions at extreme risk, IPMA recommends avoiding exposure to the sun as much as possible.
