The ranking of the 5 cheapest municipalities to rent a house is completed by Santa Maria da Feira (7.1 euros/m2), Viseu (7.3 euros/m2), Vila Nova da Famalicão (7.6 euros/m2) and Covilhã (7.6 euros/m2), according to data from the most recent idealista price report for July.
It is also possible to find house rents of less than 9 euros/m2 in the municipalities of Viana do Castelo (8.1 euros/m2), Leiria (8.2 euros/m2), Santarém (8.3 euros/m2), Valongo (8.6 euros/m2), Lourinhã (8.6 euros/m2), Caldas da Rainha (8.7 euros/m2) and Alcobaça (8.7 euros/m2). This means that families can rent a 100 square meter (m2) property for less than 900 euros per month.
This ranking of the 25 municipalities where renting a house is cheapest continues with Figueira da Foz (9.1 euros/m2), Braga (9.1 euros/m2), Guimarães (9.4 euros/m2), Ílhavo (9.5 euros/m2), Torres Vedras (9.7 euros/m2), Maia (9.7 euros/m2) and Moita (9.8 euros/m2).
With rents equal to or greater than 10 euros/m2 (i.e. renting a 100 m2 house will cost more than 1,000 euros per month) are the following municipalities: Gondomar (10 euros/m2), Vila do Conde (10.2 euros/m2), Póvoa do Varzim (10.3 euros/m2), Montijo (10.3 euros/m2), Vila Franca de Xira (11.1 euros/m2) and Coimbra (11.2 euros/m2).
The analysis carried out by idealista also found the five most exclusive locations to rent a house in Portugal. Lisbon tops the list, where the price per m2 costs 21.7 euros, making it the most expensive municipality in the country. It is followed by Cascais (20.2 euros/m2), Loulé (17.7 euros/m2), Porto (17.4 euros/m2) and Oeiras (16.6 euros/m2).
