After a period of relatively mild temperatures, the IPMA states that "a gradual rise in temperature is expected between the 29th and 31st of August, associated with a mass of hot air from the south".

Until September 2nd "there should be no significant change in temperatures, with the maximum values ​​contributing to a heatwave in most IPMA stations, except in the Algarve and possibly in some places in Baixo Alentejo".

"It is also likely that conditions will be favourable to the occurrence of thunderstorms, although there is spatial and temporal uncertainty regarding these phenomena, which will be determined, among other things, by the position of the depression in question", the Institute also points out.

Based on these predictions there will also be a chance "suspended dust appearing from Africa".
