The satellites will be incorporated into a satellite constellation operated by Open Cosmos, which has facilities in the United Kingdom, Spain, Greece and Porto.

In a statement, the company says that "it will take on high-resolution Earth observation activities within the scope of the Portuguese space agenda, integrated into the PRR [Recovery and Resilience Plan]".

Portuguese satellites will make it possible to monitor the Atlantic Ocean, land cover, biodiversity and the effects of natural disasters or climate change.

In 2025, the company expects to have new facilities in Coimbra, allowing Portugal to respond to "the needs of the African, European and Latin American markets" in access to satellite data.
