“It was the fourteenth consecutive year that the carrier was named the Best Airline in Europe by the magazine's readers, in the 21st edition of the annual GT Tested Reader Survey Awards,” the company said in a statement.
“This is an incredible honour for everyone at TAP. Winning this award every year since 2010 makes us proud and humble at the same time. It’s exciting that Global Traveler readers continue to be so pleased with our service as we continue to grow in the U.S., adding our eighth destination next year with the new route to Los Angeles,” noted Sales and Marketing Manager for TAP North America, Fernanda Ottavio.
It should be noted that the GT Tested Reader Survey is prepared based on the opinions of frequent luxury travellers, who nominate “the best in a variety of travel-related categories, distinguishing airlines, hotels, loyalty programs and travel-related products in more than 80 categories”.
I wished it was made public how much Portuguese taxpayers money was spent on this absolute stupidity that no one in the industry believes to be accurate. Privatize it already.

It must be a joke right? Some obscure US media company “award” recognition is hardly a gauge of international quality services (and I believe TAP is an international national carrier, or am I wrong?).
Compared to US airlines TAP is probably okay, given how bad the US carriers are, but in comparison to truly service-oriented, on-time airlines with high quality food and beverage (included in their price), fantastic lounges in their home airports, then TAP is nowhere near.
For those who think TAP is so great, try flying Emirates, Qatar Airlines, Singapore or Korean. These are profitable, highly successful and an absolute joy to fly with.
Its like comparing Formula 1 to Formula 3 racing cars- National carriers reflect the nation - so step up please TAP!

TAP the best? What about the terrible food, limited legroom, grumpy staff, delayed flights, dirty planes etc?
If TAP are supposed to be the best, then I would seriously hate to fly with one of the worst rated airlines in Europe.
