The results concluded that Pingo Doce stood out as the most competitive, with an index of 100, receiving the seal of “cheapest", according to Marketeer.
Froiz, Continente and Auchan presented an index of 101, that is, just 1% above the value of Pingo Doce. Intermarché came in third place, recording prices 3% higher than the cheapest supermarket.
At the opposite end of the ranking, El Corte Inglés was identified as the online supermarket with the highest prices, reaching an index of 109, which reflects values 9% above those charged by Pingo Doce. Supermarkets such as 360Hyper and Minipreço were positioned at intermediate levels, with indexes of 104 and 106, respectively.
Prices were collected daily based on a basket of more than 200 products, selected and weighted according to the average expenditure of Portuguese families. “The results are presented by the DECO Proteste simulator, a tool that has been evaluating prices since 2021 and that uses a methodology of differentiated weights, prioritising the most recent prices for greater accuracy”.
